One of the SDGs Revive is strongly committed to is SDG 17, which is why we make all our partners sign our Supplier Code of Conduct. We want to encourage the companies we work with to pay attention to sustainability in all aspects of business operations. In the code of conduct, Revive outlines the minimum requirements our suppliers must meet with regard to transparency, labour practices, environmental and social impact, health and safety.

A key pillar of SDG 15 is to halt the loss of biodiversity. At Revive, we are committed to biodiversity through nature-inclusive building. Nature-inclusive building is relatively new in urban planning. The idea that a dense city can also be designed as a biotope for different animals is gaining ground. A practical example is the hazelworm on the Marie Thumas site in Leuven.

Revive's motto is "we would rather heat your home than our planet". That is why our homes are gas(t)free, we do not use an ounce of fossil fuels.

A good practical example is the heat network in the Minerve project in Edegem. The "Warmte Verzilverd" heat network supplies heat for heating and hot water in the homes. This heat network uses residual heat from the Agfa-Gevaert factory in Mortsel and distributes it to the Minerve site.

Floods and water scarcity. Better water management is dire need. One system we use at our Minerve project in Edegem is the WASCO project. At Minerve, we don't let "water bombs" go to waste. Rainwater and the water on the roofs of nearby factories will be collected. The aim is that virtually no rainwater will be discharged within the Minerve site and that all rainwater will be reused and infiltrated on the site.

Revive is committed to sustainable cities and communities by developing sustainable projects, but mainly by focusing on Brownfield redevelopment to build new inner-city living space. This means we do not carve out green space for subdivision. Thus, counting in football pitches, we have already converted more than 170 football pitches from brown to green.

Waste production must be drastically reduced. This through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse! For our projects, we will also focus on reusing materials. In doing so, we will be assisted by an expert in circular material use in order to guarantee the same quality. For example, we have cleaned and recovered the bricks from the older sheds on Minerve to build the walls on the public area.

When you think of a property developer, your first thought will not be to improve good health and well-being. In fact, in our industry, the qualitative perception and impact of what we create is barely considered. Some initiatives how we at Revive still want to contribute to this are:

With our temporary infill projects, we are already committed to decent work and economic growth. This by opening up our projects to initiatives that are less fortunate or less likely to find a place.

The importance and impact of proptech (property & technology) are increasing. Today, it is no longer enough to simply deliver a building as a developer. The importance of services and communities is increasing. This fits perfectly into the Revive model of planet, people, profit. So during our internal innovation sessions, we also dare to think big and innovative. But we also look externally for ideas that can positively rock the world of real estate. One example is our annual event: Ghent Proptech Startup Weekend (or GPSW for short).
