Why employ temporary site use?
A temporary site use is what Revive considers a place where people can meet. It is a place that provides space for sports and playing games, for art, for workshops, for having something to eat and drink, and for having a good time. The possibilities are endless! A temporary purpose is based on three principles: Opening up space, expanding an existing neighbourhood, and creativity and fun.
Opening up space
Space and time are an absolute luxury today, yet space and time are also often up for grabs. When Revive buys an old industrial site, a long process of designing, procedures, and permits is the next stage. In the meantime, these wonderful industrial spaces are empty and closed off. They are ideal places for giving something back to society, the neighbourhood, and creative individuals. We are therefore opening up the space to him to create room for a temporary purpose there.
Expansion of existing an neighbourhood
A former industrial site has often been a “dead spot” in a neighbourhood for a long time. It is often a place to be avoided. By giving the site a temporary purpose, we are breathing new life into the space. In this way, the neighbourhood can get to know this place and even its future lessees or residents, if applicable. In this way, our residential area does not become a “new neighbourhood”, but an extension of an existing one.
Creative and fun
A temporary site use can be very diverse. From art to restaurants, from ateliers to sports pitch, bee pods, festival grounds or playgrounds. But a temporary purpose must be consistent with the future character of the site and in line with the ecosystem of the environment. Revive supports initiatives which bring about a positive dialogue with neighbours and local authorities.
